Kim Joong Kook dilahirkan pada 25 April 1976. Tinggal di Anyang,Korea Selatan :)

Kim Jong Kook pertama kali memasuki industri muzik bersama kumpulan Turbo pada tahun 1995. Setelah kumpulan ini dibubarkan, Kim Jong Kook menjadi penyanyi solo bermula tahun 2001.

Kim Jong Kook mengeluarkan album "Han Nam Ja (One Man)" untuk karier solonya. Kim Jong Kook lebih terkenal dengan penampilannya dalam program X-Man.

Pada tahun 2005 Kim Jong Kook meningkatkan popularitinya dengan single "Lovable". Sehingga kini lagu ini masih mendapat tempat dihati peminatnya.

Pada 21 Januari 2006 Kim Jong Kook bersama rakan baiknya Jeon Hye Bin dan Im Tea Kyung telah turut serta dalam Thuy Nya dan mengadakan konsert bersama Night 81 di California dan Kim Jong Kook menyampaikan lagu "To Her Man"

Mac 2006 Kim Jong Kook mendaftarkan diri dalam latihan ketenteraan selama 2 tahun. Pada masa yang sama Kim Jong Kook telah menghasilkan albumnya yang keempat. Oleh kerana undang-undang Korea tidak membenarkan wajah artis yang mengikuti latihan ditayangkan maka album tersebut tidak dapat dipromosikan. MV "Saying You Love Me" telah menampilkan Yoon Eun Hye, tetapi watak Kim Jong Kook dilakokan oleh lain :)

Setelah tamat latihan Kim Jong Kook menampilkan diri dalam Familt Outing yang menampilkan Lee Hyori, Park Ye Jin, Kim Soo Roo, Kang Dae Sung (BigBang), Chun Hee dan Jung Shin. Dalam waktu ini Kim Jong Kook telah menghasilkan lagu "Virus Love"

Album kelimanya dikeluarkan pada 27 JAnuari 2009 dengan single "Don't Be Good To Me". Dalam MV "This Is The Person" Park Ye Jin telah membintangi video berkenaan.

Album, "The Elenth Story" merupakan album yang ke sebelas sepanjang kariernya dengan penghasilan 3 MV.

Kini populariti Kim Jong Kook lebih terserlah dengan penglibatan dalam Running Man pada Jun 2010 dengan gelaran "Commander" atau "SpartaKook". Running Man menampilkan Yoo Jae Suk sebagai MC, HaHa, Kang Gary, Ji Suk Jin, Song Ji Hyo, Song Joong Ki, Lee Gwang Soo. Dalam Running Man ini Kim Jong Kook telah mendapat anugerah dalam SBS Entertaiment Award, Best TV Star Award pada 2010 dan Excellent Award 2011 dalam anurah yang sama.
